Yup it's Christmastime. Although I am unemployed [well, nine more days people] and I promised people that they were getting nothing for xmas [I'm jolly that way and I dislike xmas every year - this is just a good excuse] - that was a lie. Not many people are getting something...but some people are [and hopefully I won't get any surprise xmas gifts - completely unnecessary]. For the past two years I've had to seek out somewhat creative gifts for the various partners that I work with as I assume that they have everything. Therefore, I've become a big fan of the Living Gifts that are available @ Ten Thousand Villages. Basically, you donate a specified amount of money and it goes towards something specific for people living in developing nations.
This afternoon I finally started my xmas shopping [after a massage, of course] and I bought a goat. There's a picture and everything [it's very cute]. Along with the goat I purchased all that one will need to take care of the goat for one year as well as instructional goat information. The other two living gifts are possibly less exciting being meals for one month for orphans and 100 new trees. Since I can't have a goat or 100 trees in my small apartment they might as well be somewhere useful.
