Day Sixty-One - Jack Frost Nipping At My Nose

Until recently I thought that song about chesnuts roasting on an open fire was just that...an old chestnut. I didn't think people actually ate them. I was happy to discover that I was wrong. The last two times we were in London [UK] I visited these little carts where people sell hot, fresh roasted chesnuts. Very Dickens and old-timey. I was happy to learn I could do this without an open fire.

Tonight we watched one of those Bourne films [the first one] and what goes better with Matt Damon than nutmeat? Practically nothing. I assisted in preparing chestnuts for roasting over an open gas fire. Unfortunately, due to the crap that is our grocery store, many of the chesnuts were not fit for eating. The ones that were in good shape were absolutely delicious.
