I figure I could use a Simpsons quote for everyday...so I'm trying to restrain myself. This one is a classic and impossible to not use on this glorious day. For today is Permission Day. And what is that? It's an informal and unofficial celebration of the day that Prohibition ended in the US - on December 5th, 1933. While I'm sure that the fourteen years of Prohibition [14!] weren't all fun and games - it surely seems that way in films and books. What with everyone drinking and having a wild time. But then - the Great Depression started and even then - there was no legal drinking for four years [4!]. Our generation isn't that tough. Most people I know can barely make it through the week without drinking.
In honour of my life-long love affair with booze tonight I celebrated Permission Day. Ummmm, rather somberly. I have unofficially stopped drinking on weeknights [unless I have an excuse to celebrate or drown myself] as I get so little sleep to begin with that falling asleep after drinking = crappy quality of sleep. However, I made a point of having a drink [and also making Joseph drink - even more rare] and giving myself a 1920s name - Zelda [tough choice between Daisy and Zelda...leading to some research into Nintendo]. I also informed others of this day and my coworker Lauren agreed to celebrate and renamed herself Lola [which - that is an awesome name].
Okay - only 300 more days to go! Currently I've gotten zero suggestions and on my own I have about 150 things. So please, suggest to me something new, something extraordinary! I strongly suspect people are reading [as people say things to me that I know they read here only]...so don't be shy.
