This time of year there is a lot of pressure to donate money to any number of good causes. There is also a lot of pressure to buy people you like fabulous gifts. I encourage you to make your own decisions. I would prefer to donate more and have less fabulous gifts...but - what are you gonna do? Changing traditions is exceedingly difficult. Generally speaking I am trying to spend less this year due to my impending unemployment.
With the internets and all supporting specific causes is super easy. Tonight I donated money online to the Toronto Distress Centre. Through something called canadahelps.org you can make secure donations to lots and lots of different charities all in one place. I don't particularly want to say why I chose this charity, except to say that today is a tough day for me. Those who vaguely remember may remember [or not].
And it’s been a long December and there’s no reason to believe
Maybe this year will be better that the last
I can’t remember all the times I tried to tell myself
To hold on to these moments as they pass
And it’s one more day up in the canyon
And it’s one more night in Hollywood
It’s been so long since I’ve seen the ocean... I guess I should
