The Kirklands had the best SuperBowl parties when I was growing up. Featuring a big pot of chili, nachos, margaritas [and beer of course] and accessible, non-intrusive football-themed party games, it was really something to aspire towards. I once tried having a SuperBowl party when I was 14 years old, but I invited only other 14 year old girls who weren't so much about the football. They ended up not watching the game at all and squealing over the halftime show. It was the same year that they came out with Crystal Pepsi, causing my dad to run out during the game to buy it. Even as a diehard Coke family, we were so impressed that it was clear AND tasted like a cola. I think people were easier to impress back then. I'm still not sure why it being a clear cola was a big deal at all.
Anyway - thoughout the years I've had an on and off relationship with the NFL, but it will always be there due to my dad's influence. For the SuperBowl this year I decided to try something new and I made nachos @ home. I'm not sure why this was so intimidating to me as it's actually quite simple. The nachos were so delicious that barely any stomach room was left for my black bean chili, served with avocado salsa. And blue margaritas [in honour of both teams having blue on their uniforms].
It was a great game - it's always nice to see the underdog win. And to have Tom Brady put in his place a bit. I just hate that guy so much.
