Day Three Hundred and One - Morning Zoo

So - I think we can all agree that radio is...not great. I dunno - maybe I'm speaking too quickly here - but I get frustrated with radio - the crummy, repetitive music, the endless adverts...and the horrific chatter. Oh yes, it is the chatter that bothers me the most. In particular, the morning show prattle. How I loathe it. When I moved to Toronto I listened to The Edge which is an "alternative" radio station [totally owned by some big corporation and playing music that is really anything but alternative or interesting - there is a lot of Nickelback and such...in my defense they used to play a good amount of Britpop]. After university I made the switch to Q107, which plays classic rock. The music is not generally the problem [though they do seem to be playing an ungodly amount of Foreigner and Loverboy lately - it makes me long for Rush, which is just plain wrong] - the problem is the idiotic morning show that has been tormenting me for years now.

I have no idea why it's taken me so long to make the switch, but this morning my foot went down and the dial...she got shifted. This morning I changed radio stations to CBC. Yes, that last and long-standing liberal bastion of hope - the CBC. There's nothing quite like it. I'm not quite sure it's going to wake me up as well as the idiotic Derringer in the Morning for you see - Derringer did angry up my blood but good. I would start yelling and swearing @ the radio and my blood pressure would be elevated to a normal level, instead of its normal lowless that makes me all loagy. CBC Radio is all about talking in nice soft voices and sometimes there is a little bit of music [like world music or jazz or maybe some local artist]. But mostly they just tell you about things that you should be concerned with and then little human interest type stories of do-goodery. It's a little bit sedate. However, it keeps me away from the fat, braying, jackass voice of John Derringer who has an opinion on everything [and yes, his opinion is always wrong]...so I guess this is one win for the elitist, hippie, liberal set. We do win so few.

I hate the morning shows as well. I'm so glad my car has a CD player.

I can't deal with any sort of technology or decision making in the morning [so CDs are a no go for me unfortunately]. I just need noise. I'm liking CBC more this week. I keep shouting @ them for being aging liberal hippie douches...which is way less offensive than Derringer.
