So we were doing our traditional semi-late-night grocery shop and we were specifically engaged in the neverending quest to find decent vegetables @ our grocery store. You know how news-types are always saying that poor people don't buy fresh fruits and vegetables because they are too expensive? No, that's wrong. Poor people don't buy fresh fruits and vegetables because the majority of produce in cheaper grocery stories is already rotting or way, way under-ripe or just really gross in appearance [and I say this as someone who is un-averse to spots on my apples and other imperfections - just leave me the birds and the trees]. In our struggle for some tasty fresh vegetables I encountered a stranger who urged me to buy some corn on the cob. He even gave me some instructions on how to prepare it. And @ a cost of 2 cobs for $1 - I was totally sold. So tonight
I prepared corn on the cob. Here's some of the preparation - some good old fashioned husking going on here.

I really can't believe that I've never prepared corn on the cob before. It is super delicious and so easy. Also, when I husked the corn I was pleasantly surprised to see that it was peaches and cream corn, not just...corn corn? It was just labelled "corn" in the store and being it is our crummy grocery store, I assumed it would be crummy corn. Sweet. Ummm, literally.
Check it out - ears of corn!

I'm from Minnesota, and I love grilling sweet corn in the summer. I found some the other day that looked great and was 10 for $1. Best deal ever.
Dang - I am missing out! However, Minnesota seems potentially colder and more snowy than Toronto...but darn you Americans and your more inexpensive foodstuffs! I think Anderson Cooper and others must be lying to me about the increased costs of everything...
